Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Corsair Light (ranked 3053 p4p, 7260 weight class) and Rico Wilson (ranked 302 p4p, 519 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corsair Light!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rico Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Reed Andrews.

Wilson connects with an inside leg kick.

and Light counters with a single leg into guard. Wilson didn't expect that.
Wilson looking for a sweep. Not yet Wilson, not yet.
Wilson is adopting a defensive guard.
Light passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wilson is trying to get back to half guard.

Light goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wilson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Light but great work by Wilson.
Wilson happy to just control the position for now.
Wilson tries to advance to mount but Light denies him.
I've been told that Wilson has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.
Light tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wilson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Light. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Light manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Wilson stands up from half guard.
Light steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Wilson.
Wilson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Wilson rushes Light and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Light is looking to control Wilson's arms but Wilson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Light has his back to the cage.
Wilson looking to throw knees to the head but Light is blocking nicely.

Wilson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wilson swings for the body but Light moves out of range.
Wilson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wilson takes a swing at Light's ribcage but misses.
Wilson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
We've been hearing reports that Light has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Light swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A big left from Light misses.
Wilson misses with a hook to the body

and Light counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Light is looking for a kimura here.
Wilson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Light has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wilson defend it? Light steps over the head and cranks it - Wilson is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Light!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Corsair Light!

A very excited looking Corsair Light made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
