Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Faddei Volkov (ranked 4710 p4p, 4869 weight class) and Skylar Jones (ranked 526 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.

Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Volkov moves out of range easily.
Jones throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Volkov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
Volkov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jones!

Volkov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.
Volkov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Volkov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Volkov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Volkov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jones wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Volkov taking a break here but Jones is having none of it and regains half guard.
Jones is looking to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones wants to control but Volkov is keeping busy.
Volkov seems to be looking for submissions.
Volkov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Volkov sits in half guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Jones shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Volkov as he jumps to the side.

Volkov is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Volkov is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jones is trying to maintain the position but Volkov is very close to passing his half guard.
Volkov is looking to stall here but Jones recovers full guard.

Jones wants to stand up but Volkov is controlling him.

Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Volkov to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Volkov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Volkov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Volkov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Volkov content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Jones has locked up a guillotine! Jones's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Volkov is holding on here and Jones must be using up a lot of energy. Volkov has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Jones gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
