Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nikica Polen (ranked 4341 p4p, 4531 weight class) and Monty Pyke (ranked 421 p4p, 511 weight class). Polen comes to the cage accompanied by Can't be touched - Roy Jones Jr. Pyke has chosen Uptown Top Ranking as his entrance music. Monty Pyke has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.

Pyke throws a right and a left that Polen avoids nicely.
Polen gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Pyke drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Polen dives on top into guard.
Pyke is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Polen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Pyke takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Polen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pyke sprawls well initially but Polen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Pyke shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Polen as he jumps to the side.

and Polen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Pyke darts in looking for a takedown but Polen gets double underhooks and turns Pyke into the cage.
Polen is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pyke can do to turn this around?
Pyke misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Polen.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Polen here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Polen catches Pyke with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Polen throws a head kick that misses.
Polen lands a really nice looking cross but Pyke seems unphased.
Pyke closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Polen quickly recovers to half guard.
Pyke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Polen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pyke is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Polen is looking for a sweep. Pyke is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pyke lands a nice short elbow.
Polen wants to get back to his feet.
Pyke is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Polen is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
