0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Khrysthenkyo! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gerken looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Khrysthenkyo. Gerken misses with a strike from the bottom. Gerken is trying to control Khrysthenkyo's posture but Khrysthenkyo avoids it. Gerken is looking to reverse the position. Khrysthenkyo decides to take the fight back to the feet. Gerken shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Khrysthenkyo is controlling Gerken's posture. Khrysthenkyo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Khrysthenkyo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gerken is one step ahead there. He's bucked Gerken off and has taken his back! You can see the frustration on Gerken's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gerken is staying active underneath Khrysthenkyo, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Khrysthenkyo seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Khrysthenkyo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gerken. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gerken works his way to full guard. Khrysthenkyo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Khrysthenkyo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Gerken is rocked! Gerken tries to buck Khrysthenkyo off but Khrysthenkyo is having none of it. Oh Gerken is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Gerken gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Gerken seems to have got his legs back now. Gerken works his way to full guard. Good work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Khrysthenkyo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gerken is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Khrysthenkyo stopping the sweep attempt from Gerken. Peter Gerken has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Gerken manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Khrysthenkyo manages to get himself to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Peter Gerken. Well Khrysthenkyo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
