Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jean Nicholas (ranked 4846 p4p, 5009 weight class) and Elijah Freshour (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jean Nicholas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Elijah Freshour! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.

Freshour manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Nicholas is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Freshour wants to stand and escape but Nicholas is having none of it. Nicholas postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Freshour wants to sweep here but Nicholas controlling him for the moment. Freshour trying to control the position.

Nicholas seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Nicholas connects with a nice short shot to Freshour's temple. Freshour won't allow Nicholas to pass to mount. Freshour wants to control but Nicholas is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Freshour keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Freshour on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Freshour is looking to control Nicholas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Freshour avoid being mounted? Nicholas controlling the action here. Freshour trying to hold on to Nicholas's head to control him but Nicholas postures up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Freshour gets caught napping as Nicholas dives in and scores a takedown. Freshour manages to retain guard. Nicholas lands a couple of digs. Freshour looking for a guillotine here but Nicholas defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nicholas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Nicholas won't allow Freshour to sweep him here. Nicholas content to stall in guard here. Nicholas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Nicholas landing with the ground and pound. Freshour is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Nicholas dives into side control.

Nicholas looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Nicholas slips a nice elbow through Freshour's hands, connecting with Freshour's forehead. Freshour really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nicholas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Nicholas scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Nicholas lands with a punch from half guard. Freshour is trying to maintain the position but Nicholas is very close to passing his half guard. Jean Nicholas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nicholas winds up and cracks Freshour with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nicholas lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Nicholas is taking a breather. Freshour says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Freshour makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Freshour. Nicholas slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Nicholas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Freshour is looking to stand back up but Nicholas counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Freshour. Freshour wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nicholas with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Freshour misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Freshour tries to roll over but Nicholas keeps him under control.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Nicholas shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Freshour napping and manages to drive through into side control! Freshour tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nicholas is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Freshour can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jean Nicholas dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Freshour shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nicholas sprawls well. Nicholas wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Freshour gets slowly back to his feet. Freshour shoots in looking for a takedown. Nicholas tries to sprawl out of it but Freshour keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nicholas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Freshour closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Freshour has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Nicholas uses from the top position. Nicholas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Freshour is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Nicholas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Freshour's head. Nicholas sitting in guard, not really doing much. Nicholas is in close to Freshour's body, working some short punches and elbows. Nicholas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Nicholas passes Freshour's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nicholas content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Nicholas scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Nicholas moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Freshour. Freshour is letting Nicholas control him for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Nicholas working away. Nicholas controlling the position. Nicholas landing a few strikes. Nicholas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Freshour can do to turn this around? Freshour is letting Nicholas control him for a moment. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Nicholas scores with a couple of short elbows. Elijah Freshour has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jean Nicholas is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. And that's the end of the fight! Jean Nicholas showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nicholas, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
