The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wick shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vesalainen pinned against the cage. Vesalainen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Vesalainen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Wick gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vesalainen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wick is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Vesalainen rolls with it to try and escape but Wick cranks on the arm and Vesalainen is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Wick!
