Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sven Karlsson (ranked 4641 p4p, 6547 weight class) and Canan Makoniko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canan Makoniko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sven Karlsson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Canan Makoniko! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.

Oooooh!!! Karlsson has knocked Makoniko down with a huge combo! Karlsson steps away and waves a wobbly Makoniko back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Canan Makoniko has been cut. Makoniko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Karlsson did well to prevent Makoniko getting side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Karlsson is staying active underneath Makoniko, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Karlsson tries to kick Makoniko off but Makoniko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Makoniko lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Karlsson is trying to stand.
Makoniko trying to control the action but Karlsson is working from the bottom. Makoniko working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Makoniko seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Karlsson is staying active underneath Makoniko, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well, if Makoniko is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Makoniko feints and as Karlsson raises his hands in defense, Makoniko changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Makoniko with a flurry of punches that miss. Makoniko content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Makoniko wants to control from the top but Karlsson keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Makoniko postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Karlsson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Makoniko off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Karlsson throws a series of punches but Makoniko avoids them all with ease. Makoniko will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Makoniko drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Makoniko landing with the ground and pound. Makoniko distracts Karlsson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Makoniko wants to control from the top but Karlsson keeps moving. Makoniko postures up and lands a big shot to Karlsson's brow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Karlsson keeping moving, preventing Makoniko from controlling successfully. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Makoniko trying to move into half guard but instead Karlsson has managed to sweep! Karlsson won't allow Makoniko to get back to his feet. Makoniko wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Karlsson manages to pass to side control. Karlsson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Makoniko to stand up. Makoniko looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Karlsson! Makoniko is working Karlsson over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Karlsson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Karlsson wants to get back to his feet but Makoniko drags him back down. Makoniko looks up at the clock and then as Karlsson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Makoniko smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Makoniko working the ground and pound. Makoniko in side control lands a decent elbow. Karlsson is not content to let Makoniko control the position. Makoniko landing a few strikes. Makoniko is looking to take a break and control but Karlsson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Makoniko lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Makoniko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karlsson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Makoniko lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Makoniko wants to lay and pray for a moment but Karlsson keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sven Karlsson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Canan Makoniko's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Makoniko drives through with a takedown into guard. Karlsson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Karlsson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Makoniko doesn't succeed with the takedown and Makoniko takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Makoniko shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Karlsson as he jumps to the side. It looked like Karlsson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Karlsson scores with a shot to the body.
Makoniko shoots in but Karlsson avoids the takedown attempt easily. Sven Karlsson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Canan Makoniko. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Karlsson throws a one two combo.
Makoniko closes the distance and clinches up with Karlsson, looking for a takedown. Makoniko pushes Karlsson against the cage but Karlsson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. It looked like Karlsson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Karlsson lands a body shot.
Makoniko with a lazy takedown attempt and Karlsson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Makoniko is breathing heavily. Karlsson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karlsson connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Makoniko! He's out on his feet! Karlsson rushes in and drops Makoniko with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sven Karlsson! Sven Karlsson tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
