Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Miguel Cotto (ranked 4521 p4p, 3103 weight class) and Hakeem Oki (ranked 97 p4p, 74 weight class). Oki has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 38 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Cotto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 35 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hakeem Oki! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oki scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Cotto scores with a leg kick.
Nice uppercut there from Cotto. Oki misses with a looping left. Cotto feinted there with a counter leg kick. Cotto lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Oki throws a head kick that misses. Oki avoids a kick to the body.
Oki throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Cotto quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Oki throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cotto on the side of the head. Oki throws a lazy uppercut
and Cotto counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Oki blocks a head kick by Cotto.
Oki looks to land a left hand but Cotto moved out of range nicely. Cotto lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Some wild striking there from Oki.
Cotto looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Oki lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Oki throws a head kick that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Cotto. Cotto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Oki stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cotto. Oki thows a left - swing and a miss! Oki throws a leg kick and Cotto counters with a lovely straight right hand! Oki does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Cotto swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Oki uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cotto.
That kick from Cotto tenderised Oki's leg. Oki is trying to keep his angry face on. Hakeem Oki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cotto slips under a jab. Cotto uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Oki. Cotto misses with a two punch combination.
Oki misses with the combination.
Cotto half committed to a counter leg kick. Cotto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Oki doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Oki moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Oki throws a body punch but Cotto moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Cotto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Oki's knee momentarily. Oki looks winded! This has been an exciting period of action! Cotto thuds his shin into the meat of Oki's side. Oki throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Oki misses with a jab, cross combination.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Cotto connects with a nasty looking knee right to Oki's face.
It looks like Hakeem Oki has been cut. Cotto lands with a short shot to the head. Cotto lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Oki is rocked! Cotto softening up his opponent with strikes, against the ropes. Oki is still on wobbly legs! Can Cotto finish him? Cotto is working Oki over against the ropes. Oki takes a shot to the head. Cotto creates a bit of space for himself and unleashed what can only be described as a tiger uppercut, straight out of Street Fighter! Oki crashes to the mat! Can he make it back to his feet in time? 3,4,5,6... it doesn't look like he's going to make it! Oki face plants back to the mat and the referee calls off the fight! Cotto takes it with a brutal technical knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Miguel Cotto! Miguel Cotto was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
