CACC 98 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 3 losses; Shawn Briggs! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 5 losses; Ganesha Om!
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Briggs tries to clinch but Om moves away
and Om decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Briggs's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Briggs (0) vs (2) Om
Briggs is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Om is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like Om might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Briggs tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Briggs is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Om stays in close to Briggs's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Om trying to control the position from guard on top but Briggs is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Briggs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Om can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Briggs controls Om momentarily but Om frees himself.

Briggs not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Om engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Briggs wants to control the position but Om says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Om controlling the pace.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Om wants to take a breather but Briggs is having none of it.
Om moves nicely into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Briggs (0) vs (5) Om
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Om is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Briggs knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Om working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Om in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Briggs is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
