CACC 99 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 4 losses; Chris Boag! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 7 losses; Rolf Ottke!
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Boag moves into the clinch. Boag changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ottke fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Boag takes the fight into the clinch. Boag is trying to drag Ottke to the mat but Ottke just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boag is looking to take this one to the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Boag. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boag gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ottke.
Ottke gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Boag (0) vs (2) Ottke Boag wants to control but Ottke is keeping busy.
Ottke trying to control from half guard but Boag is working away. Ottke looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ottke passes the guard and advances to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Boag (0) vs (5) Ottke Boag is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boag is squirming around, avoiding Ottke's attempts to control the action. Ottke is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ottke controlling his opponent. Ottke can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boag is looking to escape. Ottke content just to control the position here. Ottke working for a guillotine from mount but Boag is in no mood to give up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ottke moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Boag has worked his arm free - good work by Boag!
Ottke wants to lay and pray for a moment but Boag keeps working. Ottke is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boag is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ottke has hold of Boag's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Boag tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ottke cranks the arm and Boag screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Boag, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
