Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pierre Mvarre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Cole! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mvarre throws an overhand right that lands on Cole's shoulder, as Cole tries to avoid the shot. Cole avoids the head kick by Mvarre.
Mvarre connects with a jab. Mvarre misses with a body shot.
Pierre Mvarre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cole uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mvarre. Mvarre misses with a few strikes there.
Cole drives through with a takedown into Mvarre's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Cole stands up from guard. Let's bang! Cole has his takedown stuffed and Cole takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Cole looks winded! Mvarre throws a head kick but Cole moves out of range.
Mvarre misses with a hook. Mvarre takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
This has been an exciting period of action! Mvarre misses with a two punch combination.
Cole throws a leg kick but Mvarre sees it coming and moves out of range. A jab from Mvarre finds it's way through Cole's defenses. Cole takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Mvarre throws the left hand but Cole avoids the punch easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mvarre throws a head kick but Cole moves out of range.
Cole defending well as Mvarre loads up on a big left hand. Mvarre misses with a straight left. Cole moves into range and clinches up with Mvarre. Cole's coach down at Catch Wrestling L.A. was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Cole's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Mvarre jumps guard but Cole turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Cole is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Mvarre tries to pull guard but Cole forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Mvarre drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cole pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pierre Mvarre. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mvarre lands with a straight right. Cole didn't see that one coming. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cole. Mvarre pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mvarre lands a left and a right that send Cole crashing to the mat, dazed. Mvarre thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Cole is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mvarre lands a big right hook! Cole looks hurt but is still standing! Mvarre lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Cole falls down and Mvarre dives in with a huge hammer fist! Cole's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Mvarre runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Pierre Mvarre!
