Alves throws a right and a left that Patrick avoids nicely.
Nice sprawl there from Patrick as Alves shoots in.
Patrick tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alves throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Patrick.
Patrick looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Alves is looking to clinch.
Alves dives in for a single leg takedown but Patrick sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Alves loads up on a big right hand but Patrick slips the punch.
Alves throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patrick throws a right and a left that both miss.
Alves throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Patrick tries to counter with a clinch but Alves shakes him off and moves away.
Alves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patrick looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Patrick sneaks out the side door and pushes Alves away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Patrick decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Alves's guard.
Alves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Patrick can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
