Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Diego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mau Castro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castro has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mau Castro!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Diego feints and as Castro raises his hands in defense, Diego changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Diego won't allow Castro to get back to his feet.

Castro is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Diego stands and throws Castro's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Castro is trying to control Diego's posture but Diego avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Diego darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Diego seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Diego has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fight stays on the outside here - Diego looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Diego fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Castro sprawls well initially but Diego persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Diego looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Castro is fending him off so far but Diego persists. Nope, Castro circles away and we're back to standing.

Diego seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Castro for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well Diego has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
