Blunt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Blunt seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Blunt is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lagounov defends it well.
Lagounov has hold of Blunt's hands but Blunt slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Lagounov wants to control the action here but instead Blunt manages to pass to full mount!
Lagounov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blunt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lagounov tries to lock up and control but Blunt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Blunt jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Lagounov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Lagounov is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's two minutes gone in the round.

Blunt lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lagounov down.
Blunt cracks Lagounov with a big right hand but Lagounov just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Blunt is looking to take a break and control but Lagounov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Blunt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
