Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derick Muise (ranked 2021 p4p, 2139 weight class) and Robert Schafer (ranked 260 p4p, 273 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derick Muise! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Schafer! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Muise has taken the fight to the clinch.
Muise throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Muise. Schafer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Muise ducks under a wild hook from Schafer. Muise scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Derick Muise seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Muise swings widly with a right hand
and Schafer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Schafer lands with an uppercut that bounces Muise off the cage and back into range.
It looks like Derick Muise has been cut. Muise misses with a hook. Schafer lands with an overhand left. Muise swings for the body but Schafer moves out of range.
Muise moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. This has been an exciting period of action! Muise misses with an uppercut. Schafer feints a jab promting Muise to slip. Schafer then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Muise slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Muise jabs Schafer to the body, keeping him at a distance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Muise jabs at Schafer's body. Schafer ducks under a wild hook from Muise. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Schafer! But no joy. Muise loads up on a big right hand but Schafer slips the punch. Schafer doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Schafer is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. A telegraphed right hand from Schafer misses the target. Muise throws a shot from downtown. Schafer moves away and avoids it. Schafer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Muise definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Muise scores with the left hand. Schafer knows he should have avoided that one. Schafer tries to keep at a distance but Muise has taken the fight into the clinch. Muise lands an elbow that stopped Schafer in his tracks for a moment. Muise misses with an elbow strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Schafer scores with a shot to the side of Muise's head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Muise. Schafer tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Schafer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Muise has him pressed against the cage. Schafer scores with a hook to the body. Schafer swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Muise tries to work over Schafer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Schafer has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Muise digs a right hand into Schafer's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Schafer's gas tank. Schafer working aggressively here.
Schafer takes an elbow to the temple. Muise blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Muise lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. A head punch on the inside from Schafer fails to land. Schafer struggles to land a body shot inside as Muise controls his hands.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Schafer tries to work over Muise's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Schafer working aggressively here.
A short right from Muise on the inside. Schafer misses with a hook from the clinch. Schafer throws a punch but it's blocked by Muise. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Muise creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Schafer tries to circle away but Muise has him pinned against the cage. Schafer tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Muise slows down the pace here.

Schafer wants to get back to striking at distance but Muise won't allow it.
We've been informed that Schafer has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Muise scores with a nice hook to the head. Muise lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Muise creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Muise swings wildly with an uppercut but Schafer uses good head movement to avoid it. Schafer wants to get back to striking at distance but Muise won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Muise lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Muise lands an elbow inside that Schafer shrugs off. Muise gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Muise lands with a short shot to the head. Schafer takes an elbow to the forehead. Muise lands an elbow just above Schafer 's eye. A nice left hand lands by Muise.
Schafer is rocked! Muise has Schafer pressed against the cage. He pushes Schafer back and as he springs towards him off the cage, Muise throws a beautiful elbow that sends Schafer crashing to the floor! Muise piles on the pressure with more strikes! Schafer is flailing away but he's not defending himself and the referee steps in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derick Muise! Our winner, Derick Muise, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
