Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Riley Oconner (ranked 3419 p4p, 3630 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 418 p4p, 440 weight class). Silva comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Billie jean kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

A left and a right from Oconner both land. Nice combination.
Oconner displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Silva throws out the jab.
Silva gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Oconner tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Silva manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Silva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Oconner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silva moves away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Oconner works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Oconner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Silva walks straight into a right hand from Oconner - that's dropped him! Oconner jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Silva from any more punishment! Silva complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Riley Oconner was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Anderson Silva was interviewed post fight and said 'he got very lucky to catch me '.
