PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Laudrup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Parts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laudrup comes to the cage accompanied by Zoo Station. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hans Laudrup!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Parts!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Laudrup instigates a clinch.
Laudrup lands with a right to the head.
Parts tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Parts jumps guard but Laudrup stands there with Parts around his waist. Parts gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Laudrup breaks the clinch.

Parts tries to keep at a distance but Laudrup has taken the fight into the clinch.
Parts should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Laudrup escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Laudrup. No joy for Parts on that attempt.
Hans Laudrup has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Parts.

Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Laudrup!


It looks like Chris Parts has been cut.
Nice straight punches there by Laudrup. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Laudrup.
Nice defenses there by Parts.
Laudrup digs a good hook to Parts's body.

Parts closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Laudrup wants to get back to his feet but Parts drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A lull in the action here.
Laudrup is looking to reverse the position.

Parts staying calm.
Parts working away.
Parts wants to control but Laudrup is keeping him busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parts throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Laudrup works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Well, if Parts is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Parts prevents Laudrup from standing back up.
Laudrup tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Parts manages to move to mount!
Parts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hans Laudrup dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Chris Parts's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Laudrup comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Laudrup closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Laudrup wants to get back to his feet.
Parts controlling the position for now.
Laudrup tries to stand and escape but Parts actually recovers to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Laudrup looking to sit in guard and control but Parts gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Parts controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Parts missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Parts stays in close to Laudrup's body and controls the position.
Laudrup is looking to stand up but Parts isn't so interested in that idea.

Parts wants to control from the top but Laudrup keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Despite being in the dominant position, Chris Parts just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Laudrup scores with a body shot.

Parts scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Parts is just content to waste time from the top position. Laudrup takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Laudrup will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Laudrup is looking to stand back up but Parts counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Laudrup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hans Laudrup will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Chris Parts's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Parts keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Parts shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Parts was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Parts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Laudrup is trying to stand.

Laudrup tries to hold on but Parts postures up.
Laudrup is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Parts is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Laudrup is trying to stand up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Parts tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Laudrup is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Parts controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Laudrup wants to control but Parts is having none of it.
Laudrup is looking to improve his position but Parts isn't that keen on the idea.
Chris Parts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hans Laudrup is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Laudrup is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Parts looking to control and managing it successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Chris Parts comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Laudrup has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
