Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akira Tanahashi (ranked 7316 p4p, 2925 weight class) and An Other (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tanahashi comes to the cage accompanied by The Man. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Tanahashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, An Other! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Tanahashi finds it's way through Other's defenses. Other moves out of range of the strikes. Donk. Tanahashi catches Other right on the button with a cross. A big left from Tanahashi misses. Other doesn't manage to clinch there - Tanahashi circles away.
Tanahashi misses the jab. Tanahashi sets himself, and Other steps forward looking for the clinch! Tanahashi avoids it this time. Other gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Other jumps into guard, dragging Tanahashi to the mat.
Other lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Other is stalling in the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tanahashi is looking to sweep but instead, Other has passed into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Other looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Other perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Tanahashi is looking to get back to full guard here but Other has managed to pass to side control instead. Other scoring with punches from side control. Other decides to stand back up. Other steps back and let's Tanahashi get back to his feet. Akira Tanahashi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Other staying out of range there. Other avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Other wants to counter the offense by Tanahashi and move into the clinch position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Other moves out of range of the strikes. Akira Tanahashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tanahashi throws a right hand that misses
and Other counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Other. Tanahashi wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Other works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Tanahashi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Tanahashi is trying to break free. Other swings wildly with an uppercut but Tanahashi uses good head movement to avoid it. Other keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tanahashi's efforts to push away. Other wants a takedown but no success here.
A shot in the inside from Other. Other is trying to trip Tanahashi. He has hold of a leg but Tanahashi is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Other persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Other sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Other stands and throws Tanahashi's legs to the side, diving into side control. Tanahashi is breathing heavily. Other has an Americana. Tanahashi didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Other is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Other hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). An Other! In defeat, Akira Tanahashi stepped up to the mic, saying '"Dat some bullshit"'.
