Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Oliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dan Connor!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mike Oliva!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Oliva throws a lazy right hand but Connor sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Connor scores with a takedown into Oliva's guard.

Oliva working a defensive guard here.
Oliva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Connor manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Connor is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Connor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Connor uses his free foot to push down on Oliva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Oliva.

Connor is going olschool here, as he tries to force Oliva to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Oliva shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Connor working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Oliva is controlling an arm, preventing Connor from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Oliva is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Oliva sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Oliva can do anything to dispel that myth.

Oliva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Connor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Oliva is trying to get back to full guard.
Connor is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Oliva!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Oliva is squirming around, avoiding Connor's attempts to control the action.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Oliva is trying to escape the mount.
Connor pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.

Connor with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Oliva sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Connor has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Connor wants to control the pace but Oliva is squirming around nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Connor is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Oliva can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Oliva tries to lock up and control but Connor gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Oliva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Connor. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Connor wants to take Oliva's back but he can't do it this time.
Oliva is squirming around, avoiding Connor's attempts to control the action.

Connor looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Connor throwing strikes here but Oliva is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Oliva tries to hold on but Connor postures up.
Oliva is desperately trying to improve his position but Connor has a good base and remains in mount.
Connor wants to take Oliva's back here but Oliva is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Connor wants to finish this one by submission but Oliva is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Connor.
Connor is breathing heavily.

Connor working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Connor swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Oliva is now in Connor's guard. A big mistake from Connor there, giving up the dominant position!

Connor looking for subs off his back but Oliva has passed one foot through into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Connor dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Oliva walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Connor checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Oliva drops Connor with a beautiful combination! Connor stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Oliva is looking for the KO!


Connor is rocked!


It looks like Dan Connor has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oliva lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Connor circles away quickly and effectively.
Oh Connor is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oliva grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Connor takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Oliva cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Mike Oliva!
Mike Oliva is the new light heavyweight champion!
