Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Travis Ostlund (ranked 6937 p4p, 4285 weight class) and George Smith (ranked 531 p4p, 409 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Travis Ostlund !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Smith! But no joy.

letting Smith counter with a right hand.
Smith looks for a takedown but Ostlund sprawls well.
Ostlund bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ostlund tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ostlund has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ostlund lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
It looks like George Smith has been cut.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Ostlund shows good takedown defense.
Ostlund appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ostlund or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith, which made it look bad.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Ostlund , looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Ostlund against the cage but Ostlund circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Travis Ostlund has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Smith.
No luck for Ostlund with that takedown attempt.
Travis Ostlund seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ostlund throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

enabling Smith to counter with a crisp jab.

and Ostlund takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

We've been informed that Smith has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Ostlund bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ostlund wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Ostlund has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.
Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ostlund with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Smith tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ostlund knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Smith slips a nice elbow through Ostlund 's hands, connecting with Ostlund 's forehead.
Ostlund is trying to control but can't.
Smith scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ostlund . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Ostlund misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ostlund thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ostlund creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Ostlund wants to stand but Smith has his arm trapped.
Ostlund is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Smith knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Smith stops Ostlund from passing to mount.

Ostlund has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ostlund tries to move into full mount but can't pass Smith's legs.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Travis Ostlund is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Ostlund tries to clinch up
and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ostlund slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ostlund is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ostlund is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Smith can do to turn this around?

Ostlund changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Ostlund manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Smith counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
