This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 4 losses; Ryan Gordon! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 3 losses; Chester Bowen! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Bowen has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bowen pulls Gordon into guard.
Gordon is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Gordon wants to pass the guard but Bowen is keeping the position. Gordon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gordon is pushing down on Bowen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bowen is fighting to maintain full guard but Gordon has managed to sneak the leg through. Gordon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bowen sees it coming and defends easily. Bowen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gordon is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowen works his way to full guard. Good work. Gordon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Bowen can't keep his opponent in guard - Gordon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Bowen is staying active underneath Gordon, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Still in half guard, Gordon seems content to control. Gordon wants to pass to mount but Bowen is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gordon is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bowen defends it well. Bowen looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bowen won't allow Gordon to pass to mount. Gordon is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bowen has managed to free his arm - good work. Gordon controlling the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bowen is staying active underneath Gordon, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Gordon passes to side control. Score +3 for passing guard: Gordon (3) vs (0) Bowen Bowen is trying to improve his position. Gordon has hold of Bowen's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Bowen seems comfortable defending it but Gordon has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Bowen is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Bowen is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gordon couldn't care less - he's delighted!
