Williams lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Carpenter tries to close the distance and clinch but Williams swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Carpenter fails with the takedown.
Williams lands a leg kick that knocks Carpenter off balance momentarily.
Carpenter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Williams connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Carpenter wants to clinch.
A slow jab from Carpenter misses its intended target.
Carpenter wants to clinch but Williams slips to the side
and Williams counters with a thumping low kick.

and Williams counters with a stiff right hand.
Carpenter tries to clinch up.
Williams with the inside leg kick.
Carpenter closes the distance and clinches up with Williams, looking for a takedown. Carpenter pushes Williams against the cage but Williams circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Billy Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Carpenter.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carpenter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Williams tries to avoid it but Carpenter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Williams to the ground. Williams escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Carpenter takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Williams is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Williams throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Williams throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.

Williams lands a big uppercut and Carpenter crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Carpenter looks OK. Williams waves Carpenter back to his feet!

Carpenter is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams batters Carpenter with a massive right followed by a huge left! Carpenter is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Williams lands a final crushing right hand to drop Carpenter to the mat with a gruesome thud! Williams is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
