Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Rodrigues (ranked 330 p4p, 2182 weight class) and Nathan Dylan (ranked 49 p4p, 293 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nathan Dylan was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samuel Rodrigues! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Dylan! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.

Rodrigues jumps guard and drags Dylan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Rodrigues is looking for a triangle but Dylan pushes his legs off easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samuel Rodrigues. That's going to take a lot out of him. Dylan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Rodrigues decides to pull guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodrigues is working an open guard so Dylan takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Rodrigues has taken the fight to the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dylan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rodrigues has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dylan has managed to get both his arms back between Rodrigues's legs - danger averted. Dylan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dylan stands up and waves to Rodrigues to follow him. Rodrigues closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dylan breaks from the clinch.

Rodrigues tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dylan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Rodrigues closes the distance but Dylan moves to the side and Dylan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Samuel Rodrigues has been cut. Rodrigues closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dylan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Dylan is trying to break the clinch but Rodrigues has him pressed against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodrigues jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Dylan walks away with a smile on his face. Rodrigues gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Rodrigues rushes Dylan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Rodrigues drags the fight down to the ground.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rodrigues had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dylan defends it easily. Rodrigues is looking to cinch up a triangle. Dylan throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rodrigues's body to avoid the submission. Rodrigues has instead reached around Dylan's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rodrigues arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Samuel Rodrigues! Samuel Rodrigues decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
