PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Diego Diaz (ranked 3338 p4p, 4349 weight class) and Keller Hoyt (ranked 351 p4p, 418 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Diego Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keller Hoyt!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.

Hoyt moves into the clinch.

Diaz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hoyt is not content to let Diaz control the position.

Diaz is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hoyt defends it well.

Diaz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hoyt is just riding it out for now. Diaz eventually gives up the hold.

Diaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hoyt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hoyt has escaped and now he's on top!


Diaz has his foot on Hoyt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hoyt works his way back into a safe position though.
Diaz is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hoyt can do to turn this around?

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Diaz here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Diaz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
