PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between ethan hawke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mclain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, ethan hawke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Mclain!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
hawke looks for a takedown but Mclain sprawls well.
hawke shoots in but Mclain avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mclain moves into the clinch.

Mclain gets control of hawke's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mclain will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

hawke drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and hawke jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mclain thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Mclain is trying to control the position but hawke postures up.

hawke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

hawke avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Mclain had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. hawke is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mclain Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take hawke's back instead.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mclain lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That's one minute gone in the round.
hawke is trying to get back to his feet but Mclain has full control of the position and if anything, hawke has just worked his way into a worse spot.
hawke can't escape the position.
hawke manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mclain's guard. Nice work there by hawke.

hawke thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
hawke pushes down on Mclain's leg and manages to get into half guard.

hawke is working for a submission of some sort.
Mclain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with hawke. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
hawke is breathing heavily.
Mclain is controlling hawke's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Mclain is looking to control hawke's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mclain avoid being mounted?

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

hawke is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Mclain has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mclain is positioning himself well to prevent hawke advancing to mount.
Mclain is trying to control but can't.

hawke is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mclain wants to improve his position but hawke is controlling well.

hawke is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mclain tries to roll over but hawke keeps him under control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mclain can do anything to dispel that myth.

hawke is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mclain is just riding it out for now. hawke eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mclain tries to get to full guard but hawke has control of the leg.

hawke is trying for a kimura here. Mclain looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! hawke wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). ethan hawke!
