PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cole Trickle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Trickle's choice of entrance music: Personal Jesus. Mike Johnson looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Trickle misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Trickle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Trickle gets underhooks to prevent Johnson's takedown attempt.

Trickle is fighting off a takedown attempt but Johnson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Trickle to the mat. Trickle regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Trickle is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johnson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Trickle's back instead.

Trickle just trying to survive but Johnson is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is looking to work some ground and pound but Trickle has wrist control.

Trickle manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson is adopting a defensive guard.
Trickle wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.

Trickle has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

Johnson has an active guard here but Trickle has managed to pass into half guard.

Johnson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Trickle pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Johnson wants to get back to full guard but Trickle has mounted him!

Trickle gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Cole Trickle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Trickle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Well Trickle has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
