Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, The Dude! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Josh Haynes Haynes! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dude throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Haynes avoids the body shot from Dude.
Haynes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dude jabs Haynes to the body, keeping him at a distance. Haynes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dude lands a takedown into guard.
Dude throws a big elbow that misses. Haynes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dude manages to get himself to full guard.
Haynes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dude looking to hit a scissor sweep but Haynes is one step ahead there. Dude working for a triangle but Haynes defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dude wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Dude is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Haynes trying to control the position from guard on top but Dude is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dude is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Haynes is looking to work some ground and pound but Dude has wrist control. Haynes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dude works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dude is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Dude controls Haynes momentarily but Haynes frees himself. Dude keeping full guard, as Haynes tries to pass. Dude looking to control.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Nice takedown defense from Dude. No joy for Haynes on that attempt. Haynes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dude stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dude wants it to stay on the feet. The Dude has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Haynes Haynes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dude fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Haynes manages to avoid it. Dude leaves Haynes with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Haynes tries to clinch up and Dude decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Haynes's guard. Dude lands a couple of elbows. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dude's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Haynes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Haynes wants to stand up but Dude is controlling him. Haynes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dude has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dude is in close to Haynes's body, working some short punches and elbows. Dude throwing strikes from guard but Haynes blocks nicely. Haynes has momentary wrist control but Dude slips an elbow through the middle. Dude lands a couple of digs. Dude makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Dude postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Haynes is rocked! Dude gets to his feet and stands over Haynes, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Haynes felt that one! Dude unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Haynes from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Dude! A less than humble The Dude misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
