Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between De Forest Treadwell (ranked 1572 p4p, 1390 weight class) and Liam James (ranked 223 p4p, 200 weight class). Treadwell comes to the cage accompanied by God gave me style, I’m coming home mix. The crowd seem to be enjoying James's choice of entrance music: Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, De Forest Treadwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Treadwell takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. James jabbing away but nothing is landing. James has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. James connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Treadwell momentarily.
James throws a combination. Treadwell tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Treadwell goes for a double leg but James avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as James continues to drive forward. Treadwell fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging James to the ground. Treadwell is now in James's guard. James wriggles free and stands up. This has been an exciting period of action! Treadwell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. James is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! James explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Treadwell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's one minute gone in the round. Treadwell ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Treadwell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Treadwell lands in his opponent's guard. James wants to stand but Treadwell is controlling the position. Treadwell wants to pass the guard but James is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Treadwell is controlling him. James is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Treadwell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as James walks away with a smile on his face. Treadwell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for De Forest Treadwell. That's going to take a lot out of him. James slaps away a takedown attempt from Treadwell, before circling back to the center of the mat. Treadwell on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Treadwell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes. The fighters circle momentarily. James darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Treadwell lands a really nice looking cross but James seems unphased.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! James fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Treadwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Treadwell shoots and misses enabling James to counter with a crisp jab. Treadwell is breathing heavily. James connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Treadwell's hands. Treadwell displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as James throws out the jab. Treadwell cracks James with a good jab. Good standup being displayed there by James as he connects with a hook. James thuds a left hand into Treadwell's body. Treadwell closes the distance and clinches up with James, looking for a takedown. Treadwell pushes James against the cage but James circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. James throws a wild combination but nothing lands. James lands an overhand right. Liam James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. James bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Treadwell's head. James misses with a looping right. Treadwell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. James uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Treadwell has time to react. James scores with a nice right hand.
Treadwell is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. James cracks Treadwell with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Treadwell tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but James pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Treadwell is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Liam James! A relieved looking Liam James thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
