Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Patel (ranked 4826 p4p, 25518 weight class) and Adrian Sitepu (ranked 472 p4p, 0 weight class). Adrian Sitepu will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcus Patel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adrian Sitepu!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Percy O'Donnell.

A looping hook to the body misses from Patel. Sitepu does a little dance to reset his feet.
Patel punishes Sitepu's body with a nice straight punch.
Patel jabs at Sitepu's body.
Sitepu looks winded!
Patel fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Sitepu on the side of the head.
Patel closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Sitepu has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Patel is on him like a limpet, forcing Sitepu back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Patel is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sitepu to keep the fight standing.
The referee calls for Patel to work.
Patel pulls guard.
Patel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Patel has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Patel misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Patel jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sitepu is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sitepu and Patel has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Patel has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Patel has hold of Sitepu's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sitepu tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Patel cranks the arm and Sitepu screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sitepu, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Marcus Patel!
In his post fight interview, Marcus Patel started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
