The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Nice takedown defense from Barbosa. No joy for Feltre on that attempt. Barbosa definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Barbosa feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Barbosa (2) vs (0) Feltre Barbosa trying to control the position from guard on top but Feltre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Feltre is pulling down on Barbosa's head to control his posture. Feltre is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Barbosa has his hands clasped together but Feltre extends and breaks Barbosa's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Feltre.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Felipe Feltre! Felipe Feltre tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool. Caio Barbosa was interviewed post fight and said 'I think he did very well and would like the chance to avenge this victory. '. |
