CACC 105 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 10 wins and 8 losses; Shanti Anatta! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 6 wins and 4 losses; Distant Thunder! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. The fight stays on the outside here - Anatta looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Thunder feints the counter takedown. Thunder looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Thunder circles away from the clinch attempt.
Anatta tries to keep at a distance but Thunder has taken the fight into the clinch. Thunder pulls Anatta into guard.
Anatta preventing the sweep. Anatta looking to pass the guard. Thunder looking to hit a scissor sweep but Anatta is one step ahead there. Thunder working for a triangle but Anatta defends it easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thunder keeping moving, preventing Anatta from controlling successfully. Anatta drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thunder dives on top into guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Thunder controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Thunder looking to sit in guard and control but Anatta gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Anatta (2) vs (2) Thunder Thunder looking for a sweep. Not yet Thunder, not yet. Anatta sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Thunder's guard. Thunder is trying to get back to full guard. Thunder is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Anatta's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Anatta's back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Anatta (2) vs (6) Thunder Anatta showing good submission defense here.
Thunder is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Anatta defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thunder struggling to keep hold of the position.
Thunder patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Thunder working for the choke. Anatta tries to roll but Thunder sticks to his back.
Thunder is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Anatta has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. A lull in the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Anatta right now.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Thunder is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Anatta with him. Anatta is trying to defend but Thunder has an arm under the chin now! Anatta grimaces and is forced to tap out!
