Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Dent (ranked 5781 p4p, 6742 weight class) and Luis Garces (ranked 625 p4p, 0 weight class). Dent comes into the arena with Born To Be Wild blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Luis Garces enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

Garces tries for a takedown but Dent sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Dent shoots in for a double leg but Garces sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
No joy there for Dent, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Garces goes for a double leg but Dent avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Dent continues to drive forward.
Dent half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Dent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Garces manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dent manages to get himself to full guard.

Garces tries to clinch up but Dent circles away and keeps his distance.
Nice sprawl there from Dent as Garces shoots in.
Dent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Garces sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dent somewhat.

Garces closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garces lands in his opponent's guard.
Garces must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dent dives in and grabs Garces's left leg, looking for a takedown. Garces pushes down on Dent's head and hops out.

Bobby Dent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Garces working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dent doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dent manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dent looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Garces with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Garces working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
