Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Emanuel Engozi (ranked 6661 p4p, 4499 weight class) and Wesley Shutes (ranked 644 p4p, 546 weight class). Engozi comes to the cage accompanied by Run and Escape. Wesley Shutes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Shutes tries to bum rush Engozi with a series of wild strikes but Engozi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Engozi half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Engozi shoots in but Shutes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Shutes connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Shutes stands and throws Engozi's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Engozi wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Engozi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shutes on the ground.

Engozi tries for a takedown but Shutes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

The fighters circle momentarily. Shutes darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

A slapping leg kick lands for Shutes.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Engozi enables Shutes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Engozi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Engozi kicks Shutes off and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Engozi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Shutes lands a big head kick that sends Engozi to the canvas! Shutes follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
