PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bsmds Nasmfus (ranked 6812 p4p, 6663 weight class) and Sven Karlsson (ranked 649 p4p, 641 weight class). Bsmds Nasmfus had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Bsmds Nasmfus looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Karlsson misses with a looping left.
Karlsson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Nasmfus is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Karlsson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Nasmfus has managed to clinch.

Nasmfus tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Karlsson just stands there and leans against the cage.
Karlsson wants to get back to striking at distance but Nasmfus won't allow it.

Nasmfus is pressed up against the cage. Karlsson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nasmfus down to the mat. Nasmfus avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Nasmfus really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Nasmfus takes the fight into the clinch.
Karlsson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Karlsson is trying to break the clinch but Nasmfus is controlling him.
Karlsson jumps guard but Nasmfus turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Nasmfus definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Karlsson is trying to push Nasmfus away but Nasmfus has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Nasmfus has Karlsson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Karlsson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Karlsson scores with a hook to the body.

Nasmfus wants the takedown. Karlsson is fighting it off but Nasmfus persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Karlsson's guard against the cage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nasmfus prevents Karlsson from getting back to his feet.
Nasmfus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Karlsson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Karlsson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Nasmfus is working an open guard so Karlsson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Karlsson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Karlsson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nasmfus checks it well.
Sven Karlsson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Karlsson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Nasmfus momentarily.

Karlsson moves into range and connects with a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Karlsson enables Nasmfus to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Karlsson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Karlsson pushes Nasmfus off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Karlsson looks to land a combination but Nasmfus avoids it well.
Nasmfus jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Nasmfus dodges the punch combination from Karlsson.
Karlsson cracks Nasmfus with a right hand to the side of the head.

Nasmfus is rocked!

Nasmfus shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Karlsson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Karlsson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Nasmfus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Karlsson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

A decent looking cross lands there for Karlsson.
Oh Nasmfus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Karlsson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Nasmfus circles away quickly and effectively.
Nasmfus throws a big counter combination but Karlsson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Nasmfus is looking to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Karlsson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Nasmfus seems to have got his legs back now.

and Karlsson counters with a crisp one two that drops Nasmfus! Karlsson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Nasmfus to his feet! Nasmfus is in big trouble!
Karlsson throws a right and a left that Nasmfus avoids nicely.
As Karlsson tries to get set, Nasmfus tries to push him back and clinch up but Karlsson manages to avoid the attempt.
Sven Karlsson seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nasmfus takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nasmfus moves in looking to clinch but Karlsson pushes him off.
Karlsson lands a hook that stumbles Nasmfus back into the cage. Karlsson follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Nasmfus to the canvas! Karlsson pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Nasmfus has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!

Sven Karlsson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
