Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hyun Bin Cha! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rowan Callaway! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Callaway throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cha was covering up waiting for the punch and Callaway finishes the takedown easily into guard. Callaway drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Callaway jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Cha is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters roll with the hold and Cha manages to kick Callaway off! Callaway jumps back into Cha's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cha wants to stand but Callaway is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Callaway trying to control the position from guard on top but Cha is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cha on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cha tries to get out of the position. Callaway slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Cha is looking for a sweep. Callaway remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Cha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Callaway on the ground. Callaway has hold of Cha's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Cha seems comfortable defending it but Callaway has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Cha is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Cha is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Callaway couldn't care less - he's delighted!
