Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Steel! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joaquin Guzman! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steel ducks under a wild hook from Guzman. Guzman leaves Steel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Steel seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Steel shoots in but Guzman avoids the takedown attempt easily. Guzman connects with a right hand. Steel shakes it off. Steel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Guzman defends well and Steel ends up having to push Guzman into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Steel. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Guzman pinned against the cage. Guzman gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Steel slips under a jab from Guzman. Steel tests Guzman's chin there with a solid looking shot. Guzman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Steel. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel misses with a takedown attempt - Guzman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Guzman throws out a loose jab but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it. Steel steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Guzman. It looked like Steel wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Steel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Steel slips a nice elbow through Guzman's hands, connecting with Guzman's forehead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guzman blocking the ground and pound attempt from Steel. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guzman can do anything to dispel that myth. Steel working Guzman over with strikes. Steel prevents Guzman from standing back up.
Guzman is refusing to be controlled, as Steel sits in half guard. Steel working the head and body with strikes. Steel drops an elbow to the side of Guzman's head. Guzman is staying active underneath Steel, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Steel landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Guzman is trying to stand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steel is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Guzman tries to kick Steel off but Steel keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Steel drops an elbow to the side of Guzman's head. Steel is trying to control the action in half guard but Guzman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Steel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Steel landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steel is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Steel looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Guzman has hold of Steel's hands but Steel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Guzman is looking to escape.

Guzman is rocked! Steel lands a big elbow - Guzman is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Steel!
