Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Mike (ranked 3069 p4p, 3355 weight class) and Jerry Alfinski (ranked 307 p4p, 328 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Mike! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jerry Alfinski! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alfinski fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mike looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mike scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Alfinski keeps control of the position for the meantime. Alfinski is looking for a sweep. Mike is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Alfinski is trying is best to control the position here. Mike missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Mike is trying to control. Alfinski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mike controlling the action here. Alfinski looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Alfinski wants to control but Mike is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Mike with a lazy takedown attempt and Alfinski counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mike shoots in and gets a takedown into Alfinski's guard. Mike is fighting to break Alfinski's control of his arms but Alfinski is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mike throws a big elbow that misses. Mike throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Alfinski is adopting a defensive guard. Mike controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Mike is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Island Training Centre that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alfinski preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mike loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Alfinski has control of Mike's left arm, preventing Mike from doing any damage.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Mike takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Alfinski fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
It looks like Paul Mike has been cut. Mike takes a shot right to the bread basket.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mike misses with a takedown attempt and Alfinski counters with a straight right hand. Mike shoots and misses and Alfinski counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Mike. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alfinski drops Mike with a beautiful combination! Mike stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Alfinski is looking for the KO! Mike has his takedown stuffed and Alfinski makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Mike is breathing heavily. Alfinski fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Mike to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Mike looks to clinch but Alfinski throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Mike taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Jerry Alfinski! A relieved looking Jerry Alfinski thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
