Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bornas Lopette (ranked 10454 p4p, 20159 weight class) and Kenny Knight (ranked 688 p4p, 707 weight class). Lopette comes to the cage accompanied by Root Of All Evil. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 50 - 51 - 3, fighting out of New York, Bornas Lopette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kenny Knight!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.

Lopette misses with a low kick.
Lopette misses the shot to the body.
Knight with the counter takedown but Lopette avoids it easily.
Knight showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lopette.
Knight scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lopette doesn't seem bothered though.
Lopette throws a chopping leg kick but Knight manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Knight lands a leg kick that knocks Lopette off balance momentarily.

Knight darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Knight is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Knight is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lopette defends it well.

Knight is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lopette doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Knight.

My spies in Navy Street MMA inform me that Knight has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lopette tries to work over Knight's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Knight is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lopette is defending well.

Knight works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Knight looking to sit in guard and control but Lopette gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Knight is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lopette has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Knight has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Knight is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Lopette is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Knight is trying to escape the mount.
Knight tries to control the position but Lopette now has his back.
I really don't envy Knight right now.
Lopette keeps control of the position easily here as Knight tries to buck him off.
Knight is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Knight is trying to get back to his feet but Lopette has full control of the position and if anything, Knight has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Knight is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Lopette off. It looks like it's working - Lopette slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Knight displaying calm under pressure there.
Lopette throws a shot from downtown. Knight moves away and avoids it.
Lopette throws a low kick but it's checked well by Knight.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lopette.

and Knight counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lopette won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Knight stands up.

Knight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lopette, pushing him back against the cage.
Lopette misses with the head strike.
Knight on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Knight lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lopette backwards.

Knight pulls Lopette into guard.

Knight looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Lopette has picked Knight up and slammed him! Knight can't keep hold of the triangle and Lopette manages to pass to side control!

Knight explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Knight dives in and scores a takedown into Lopette's guard.

Knight is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lopette knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Knight on the ground.

Lopette is working an open guard so Knight takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
A punch lands to the side of Lopette 's head but he takes it in his stride.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Knight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Knight moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Bornas Lopette seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Knight moves into the clinch successfully.
Lopette trying to land knees to the body.
Knight digs a right hand underneath Lopette's ribcage. Lopette let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Knight.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Knight.

Knight pulls guard successfully.

Knight escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lopette gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Knight is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kenny Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Knight looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Knight wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lopette keeps working.

Knight looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lopette is looking for a sweep. Knight is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Knight wants to pass the guard but Lopette is defending well.

Well Knight has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
