PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Constantine Barca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiro Makoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Makoto's choice of entrance music: P-Mon Theme. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barca shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Barca closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Barca is trying to control. Makoto wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Makoto is trying to stand back up but Barca is controlling him

Barca wants to lay and pray for a moment but Makoto keeps working.
Barca passes to side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Makoto tries to buck Barca off but Barca is having none of it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Makoto throws a good cross that connects.

Makoto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barca. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barca stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Makoto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Barca shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Makoto as he avoids it easily.
Barca tries to clinch up but Makoto circles away and keeps his distance.
Makoto misses with a few strikes there.
Barca will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Barca closes the distance and clinches up with Makoto, looking for a takedown. Barca pushes Makoto against the ropes but Makoto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Makoto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barca pinned against the cage. Barca gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Barca drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Makoto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Barca has Makoto in his guard.

Makoto working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Makoto can do anything to dispel that myth.

Barca is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Makoto is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
