PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lalama Amana (ranked 3960 p4p, 4575 weight class) and Royal Pain (ranked 431 p4p, 466 weight class). Pain is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by AC/DC Thunderstruck. Royal Pain will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lalama Amana!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 29 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royal Pain!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.

Pain with a lazy takedown attempt
and Amana counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Pain misses with a straight left.

Pain has Amana up against the cage in a clinch.
Pain tries a body shot but Amana blocks it.
Pain misses with a body punch.
Amana throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pains head.

Pain breaks the clinch.

Amana gets tackled into the cage by Pain. Pain maintains the clinch.
Amana blocks an uppercut.
Amana swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Amana misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pain misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Pain manages to break the clinch.
Pain bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Amana's head.
Pain tries to clinch up but Amana circles away and keeps his distance.
Pain throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Amana counters with a nice uppercut.

Amana swings wildly with an uppercut but Pain uses good head movement to avoid it.

Pain tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Pain lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Amana or not.
Amana throws a head punch that misses.
Pain drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Amana gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Amana swings wildly with an uppercut but Pain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Amana stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Pain jumps guard and drags Amana to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Amana has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Amana wants to get up but he can't break Pain's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Amana might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pain will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Lalama Amana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royal Pain.
Amana tries to throw a body punch but Pain avoids it by throwing Amana back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pain scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Pain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pain manages to end up in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amana wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pain in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Amana takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Pain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Amana is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pain asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Pain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Amana has escaped the position, nice work there.
Amana is pushing Pain's head away, looking to escape. Pain manages to hold on to the position though.

Check out the look on Pain's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Amana sneaks out the side door and pushes Pain away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Amana avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Pain catches Amana with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Amana throws out a loose jab but Pain uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Amana counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Amana smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Amana avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Amana missing with a left hand there. Pain was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Pain throws a push kick but Amana slaps the foot to one side.

Amana lands with a light punch inside.
Amana misses with a punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Royal Pain will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Amana gets tackled into the cage by Pain. Pain maintains the clinch.

Pain is working Amana over against the cage.
Pain lands a good knee to the midsection. Amana won't want to take too many of those.

A short body shot lands from Pain as the two fighters clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Pain.
Pain lands a body punch in the clinch.
Pain lands a nice shot to the body.
Pain lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Pain digs a right hand into Amana's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Amana's gas tank.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Amana would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Pain has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Amana is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Royal Pain seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Pain obliges.

Pain is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Amana sees it coming and defends easily.
Amana is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pain scores with a couple of nice shots.
Amana is looking to escape.
Pain has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Pain is keen to just control but Amana is a slippery customer.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pain lands a nice short elbow.
Pain is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Amana is trying to stand up here but Pain is controlling him well.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pain connects with a nice short shot to Amana's temple.
Pain has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

You get the feeling that Amana really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Amana is rocked!

Pain is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Amana can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Oh Amana is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Amana wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Pain lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Amana hang on?
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pain working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Pain lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Pain lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Pain lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Pain postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Amana badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Pain around the waist but Pain pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Pain is the winner by TKO! Pain jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Royal Pain!
