Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Roberts (ranked 2326 p4p, 3937 weight class) and Bea Mason (ranked 341 p4p, 522 weight class). Roberts comes to the cage accompanied by Break Stuff. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Max Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bea Mason!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Robert Twigg and George Francis.

Mason throws a good cross that connects.

It looks like Max Roberts has been cut.
We've been hearing reports that Roberts has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Roberts moves forwards but Mason connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mason looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roberts is fending him off so far but Mason persists. Nope, Roberts circles away and we're back to standing.
A quick step to the side and Roberts tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Roberts swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mason counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Roberts thinking.

Mason looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Roberts kicks off Mason and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mason closes the distance and clinches.

Mason has Roberts pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mason pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Roberts tumbling to the mat - Mason dives into Roberts's guard.

Mason looking to sit in guard and control but Roberts gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mason tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mason keeping moving, preventing Roberts from controlling successfully.

Mason has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Roberts is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mason.
Roberts wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Roberts is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mason knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mason tries to bench press Roberts off him but Roberts keeps the position.
Mason is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Roberts is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Roberts goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mason rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Roberts's guard! Nice work there by Mason!

Roberts working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mason doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mason manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mason throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Roberts works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mason wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mason stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Roberts swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Roberts preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mason wants to stand and escape but instead Roberts has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.


Roberts avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mason looking to control.
Mason tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Bea Mason will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Max Roberts's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Roberts misses with a punch to the body.
Roberts wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mason jumps guard but Roberts stands there with Mason around his waist. Mason gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Roberts keeps the fight on the outside.
Roberts tried to counter with a leg kick but Mason avoided it.

Bea Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Roberts is controlling Mason's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mason is keen to just control but Roberts is a slippery customer.

Mason is taking a breather. Roberts says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Mason ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Roberts.
Roberts stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Roberts wants it to stay on the feet.
It looked like Roberts was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Mason.
The fighters circling - Roberts throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Mason goes for a double leg but Roberts avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Roberts continues to drive forward.

Mason moves in looking to clinch but Roberts pushes him off.

Bea Mason is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
