Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Wellington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richard Wellington is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Wellington! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wellington pinned against the cage. Wellington gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Wilson gets the takedown into side control. Wilson stands up and beckons Wellington to his feet. Wellington scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Wilson stops Wellington from passing to mount. Wellington lands a nice forearm strike. Wilson manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wellington misses with a head shot. Wilson uses the momentum to regain guard. Wellington postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wilson trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wellington passes easily into side control. Nice work. Wellington working the head with strikes. Wilson dodges the ground and pound from Wellington. Wellington lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wilson down.
Wilson wants to control but Wellington postures up. Wilson is breathing heavily. Wellington with the ground and pound but Wilson regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Wellington thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wilson's head. Wellington throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Wellington winds up and cracks Wilson with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Wellington throws a strike but Wilson avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Wellington in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wellington trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Wilson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Wilson won't allow Wellington to sweep him here. Wellington throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wellington trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Wellington keeping full guard, as Wilson tries to pass. Wellington tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wellington throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Wellington throws a combination. Wilson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Richard Wellington seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wellington looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wellington avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wellington will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson wants to clinch up but Wellington keeps it at a distance. Wilson takes one to the side of the head.
Wellington scores with a takedown into Wilson's guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wellington's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Wellington slips nicely into half guard. Wellington sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Wilson defending well though. Wellington seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Wilson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wellington sprawls well initially but Wilson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Wilson prevents Wellington from improving his position. Wellington wants to get back to full guard but Wilson has passed into side control. Wellington tries to improve his position but instead Wilson has taken his back! Wilson tightening his grip on Wellington, looking for the choke. Wellington tries to escape the position.

A close round but Richard Wellington will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wilson punishes Wellington's body with a nice straight punch. Wellington lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Wellington keeps the fight on the outside. Wilson fails to land the takedown. Wilson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wellington throws a series of punches but Wilson avoids them all with ease. Wellington throws a series of punches but Wilson moves out of range. Wellington fails with the takedown and Wilson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wellington won't be happy with that. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wilson is looking to take a break and control but Wellington is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Wellington gets back to half guard.

Wellington looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Wilson slips nicely into half guard. Wellington is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wilson slows the pace down in half guard. Wilson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Wilson clinches up with Wellington and pushes him back against the cage. Wellington wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Wilson lands an elbow just above Wellington 's eye.
It looks like Richard Wellington has been cut. Wellington tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Wellington is in bad spot here.
