Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Cooper (ranked 7591 p4p, 6420 weight class) and Farai Tendai (ranked 564 p4p, 513 weight class). Joshua Cooper looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Tendai's corner calls for a 1-2. Tendai obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Tendai looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Tendai misses with a series of wild punches.
Cooper displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Tendai throws out the jab.
Farai Tendai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cooper scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cooper takes a little break here. Tendai wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Tendai takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cooper works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Tendai takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cooper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cooper is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Tendai is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Tendai flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Cooper anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Tendai and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Cooper slips an arm under Tendai chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Cooper has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Cooper is squeezing on Tendai like an anaconda would it's prey. Tendai fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joshua Cooper!
