The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peixoto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mac Carthaigh's waist but Mac Carthaigh gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peixoto off to one side. Mac Carthaigh changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Peixoto looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mac Carthaigh trying to control the position but Peixoto is working away. Peixoto sneaks back into half guard. Mac Carthaigh is thwarting Peixoto's attempts to control the position. Peixoto regains full guard. Nicely done. Peixoto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mac Carthaigh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Peixoto throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mac Carthaigh avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Mac Carthaigh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Peixoto looks gassed! Peixoto is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mac Carthaigh knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Peixoto on the ground. Peixoto had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mac Carthaigh is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Peixoto Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mac Carthaigh's back instead. Mac Carthaigh trying to control but not successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Peixoto throwing wild punches that miss their target. Peixoto has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mac Carthaigh has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Mac Carthaigh trying to control the hands but Peixoto won't let him. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Despite being in a bad position, Mac Carthaigh is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts. Peixoto is not going to allow Mac Carthaigh to sit and survive in this position. Mac Carthaigh staying busy and making it hard for Peixoto to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mac Carthaigh looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Mac Carthaigh showing good submission defense here.
Peixoto tries to keep control of the position but Mac Carthaigh is staying busy. Mac Carthaigh is really stuck here.
Mac Carthaigh manages to escape to his feet. Mac Carthaigh instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Peixoto is trying to stall.
Mac Carthaigh digs a right hand into Peixoto's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Peixoto's gas tank. Mac Carthaigh manages to pull guard.
Mac Carthaigh looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Peixoto would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Mac Carthaigh trying to keep a closed guard but Peixoto is proving a slippery customer.

Sean Mac Carthaigh dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Mac Carthaigh closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Peixoto looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Peixoto moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mac Carthaigh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Peixoto is breathing heavily. Mac Carthaigh tries to free his leg and advance position but Peixoto is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mac Carthaigh trying to control the position from guard on top but Peixoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mac Carthaigh looking to pass the guard. Peixoto throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mac Carthaigh slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Mac Carthaigh stands up over Peixoto, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Mac Carthaigh tries to stand but Peixoto is controlling from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mac Carthaigh stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peixoto swivels though and keeps the full guard. Peixoto working a defensive guard but Mac Carthaigh manages to pass into side control anyway.
Peixoto is trying to buck Mac Carthaigh off. Peixoto takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Mac Carthaigh working the head and body with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mac Carthaigh happy to just control the position for now. Mac Carthaigh looking to control but instead Peixoto has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Mac Carthaigh keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Mac Carthaigh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Peixoto defends it well. Peixoto is not content to let Mac Carthaigh control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Mac Carthaigh is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Peixoto is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Peixoto is trying to get back to full guard. Peixoto trying to control from the bottom.
Peixoto flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nice takedown defense from Peixoto. No joy for Mac Carthaigh on that attempt. Mac Carthaigh gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Peixoto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mac Carthaigh! Peixoto takes Mac Carthaigh's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Mac Carthaigh is in trouble. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tiago Peixoto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Peixoto misses with a takedown attempt and Mac Carthaigh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Peixoto won't be happy with that. Peixoto wants to control but Mac Carthaigh postures up. Mac Carthaigh stands up and beckons Peixoto to his feet. Peixoto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mac Carthaigh counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Peixoto! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Peixoto is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Mac Carthaigh controlling the pace for now. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Peixoto defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mac Carthaigh. Sean Mac Carthaigh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Peixoto tries to hold on but Mac Carthaigh postures up. Peixoto really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Mac Carthaigh avoids the attempt from Peixoto to control. Mac Carthaigh has hold of Peixoto's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Peixoto manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Peixoto is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Mac Carthaigh trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mac Carthaigh won't let Peixoto get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Peixoto wants to hold on but Mac Carthaigh pushes him away. Peixoto is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mac Carthaigh working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Mac Carthaigh can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Peixoto is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Peixoto is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

BOOM! Mac Carthaigh connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Mac Carthaigh trying to control but Peixoto is having none of it. Peixoto keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Sean Mac Carthaigh showed his dominance in that final round. Well Mac Carthaigh has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today.
