PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carmine Munzio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Gunderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Munzio might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rise Against. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Lou da Vinci.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunderson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gunderson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Munzio takes a step back to recover.
Gunderson stuffs the takedown attempt from Munzio. Munzio gets slowly back to his feet.
Gunderson moves out of range as Munzio throws a body kick.
Gunderson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Munzio. That did some damage!
Munzio stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gunderson.
Gunderson lands a nice shot that snaps Munzio's head back.

It looks like Carmine Munzio has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gunderson avoids the head kick by Munzio.
Munzio is breathing heavily.
Munzio takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gunderson.
Gunderson throws a left that rocks Munzio and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Gunderson dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Munzio regain composure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gunderson stands up.
Gunderson moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Gunderson stuns Munzio with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Gunderson knocks Munzio to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

Munzio is rocked!

Carmine Munzio's cut is getting worse.

Gunderson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Gunderson throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Munzio stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Gunderson follows into mount!
Oh Munzio is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Carmine Munzio's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gunderson content just to control the position here.
Munzio seems to have got his legs back now.
Gunderson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gunderson get's back to his feet.
A left and a right from Gunderson both land. Nice combination.
Gunderson lands a head kick. Munzio smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Jeez, Carmine Munzio's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Gunderson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carmine Munzio's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
