PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fuego Silveti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Malone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Fuego Silveti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mark Malone!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silveti digs a good body shot into Malone's ribs.
Malone connects with a high kick.
Silveti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Silveti tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Malone throws a sloppy head kick and Silveti moves out of range easily.
Silveti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Malone tries to avoid it but Silveti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Malone to the ground. Malone escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Malone throws a solid leg kick but Silveti takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Malone.
Silveti dodges the punch combination from Malone.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Silveti.
Malone throws a sloppy head kick
and Silveti counters with a three punch combo that has Malone backing up. Malone nods at Silveti to acknowledge the strikes.
Malone throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silveti's head.
Malone plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Malone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Silveti slips nicely into half guard.
Silveti wants to free his trapped foot but Malone is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Silveti throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Malone escapes and throws Silveti's legs to the side, diving into side control!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silveti is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Silveti seems to be looking for submissions.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Malone in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Silveti isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Malone stacks Silveti on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Malone!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Silveti looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Malone is fending him off so far but Silveti persists. Nope, Malone circles away and we're back to standing.

Malone throws a head kick but Silveti moves out of range.
Silveti shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Malone as he jumps to the side.

Malone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silveti walks away with a smile on his face. Malone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Silveti connects with a jab.

Silveti closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Silveti lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silvetiis looking to pass into half guard but Malone pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Malone is in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Silveti, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
