PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Lewis (ranked 1967 p4p, 1975 weight class) and Macho Man Savage (ranked 267 p4p, 268 weight class). Lewis comes to the cage accompanied by DMX - Slippin. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Macho Man Savage!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Savage closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
An elbow from Savage crashes against the mat.
Savage is trying to ground and pound but Lewis uses the momentary lack of control by Savage to regain half guard.
Savage missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Savage looks to land a strike but Lewis avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Savage in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Savage is looking to work some ground and pound but Lewis has wrist control.
Savage working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Lewis's head.
Lewis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Savage trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lewis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Savage throwing strikes from guard but Lewis blocks nicely.
Lewis has momentary wrist control but Savage slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Savage distracts Lewis with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Savage missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Savage cracks Lewis with a solid left hand.
Savage throws a strike but Lewis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Savage is looking for a triangle here but Lewis uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Savage is trying to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Savage manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savage wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Savage looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Lewis stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Savage to get to his feet.
Savage shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lewis counters with a nice body shot.
Savage with a lazy takedown attempt
and Lewis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Savage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A little feinted left hand from Lewis on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Kyle Lewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Macho Man Savage.
Savage looks winded!
Savage is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lewis throws a lazy right hand but Savage sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
We've been told by Lewis's head coaches at Death Valley Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Savage changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lewis tries to avoid it but Savage manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lewis to the ground. Lewis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Savage dives in for a single leg takedown but Lewis sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Savage looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Savage fails with the takedown
and Lewis counters with a stiff right hand.

Savage is rocked!
Lewis weaves into range and cracks Savage right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Savage goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Lewis is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kyle Lewis!
A relieved looking Kyle Lewis thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
