Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Murphy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murphy tries to keep at a distance but Williams has taken the fight into the clinch. Murphy is working for a takedown up against the cage. I looks like Williams might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Williams stands up and waves to Murphy to follow him. Murphy fails with the takedown and Williams moves into the clinch. Murphy keeps control of Williams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Murphy jumps into guard, dragging Williams to the mat.

Murphy doesn't succeed with the takedown and Murphy takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A punch combination from Williams misses. Murphy fails with the takedown and Williams counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Williams performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Williams seems to be working for a kimura but Murphy defends the submission attempt. Murphy is trying to get back to full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Williams is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Murphy! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Williams wriggles free and stands up. Murphy closes the distance looking to clinch and Williams counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Williams keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Murphy moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Williams throws a series of strikes that have Murphy backpedaling.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Williams shoots in for a double leg but Murphy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Murphy misses with a takedown and Williams counters with a lovely straight right hand! Ed Murphy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Williams postures up and lands a big shot to Murphy's brow. Murphy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Murphy had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Williams is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Murphy Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Williams's back instead. Dan Williams has got the better of the ground game so far. Williams breaks Murphy's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Williams is trying to control the action in half guard but Murphy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Murphy wants to improve his position but Williams is controlling well.

Nope, Murphy circles away and we're back to standing. Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Ed Murphy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Murphy is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. The referee warns Williams that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Murphy wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Murphy throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

And that's the end of the fight! Dan Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
