Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Garner (ranked 5072 p4p, 5129 weight class) and Cereal Ganes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Josh Garner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cereal Ganes! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Colin Fray.

Ganes scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Ganes is trying to control. Garner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Garner is refusing to be controlled, as Ganes sits in half guard. Ganes is thwarting Garner's attempts to control the position. Ganes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Garner is doing well to control the position and prevent Ganes from advancing to side control. Ganes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Ganes is looking to take a break and control but Garner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ganes wants to stand and escape but instead Garner has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Garner missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ganes pulls Garner in close to prevent any damage. Ganes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ganes decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ground and pound from Ganes. Ganes wants to advance to full mount but Garner doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Garner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ganes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Garner has Ganes pulled in close to control his posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Garner controls Ganes momentarily but Ganes frees himself. Ganes trying to control but Garner is working from the bottom.

Ganes trying to control the position from guard on top but Garner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Garner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ganes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ganes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Ganes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garner has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ganes has managed to get both his arms back between Garner's legs - danger averted.

Garner tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ganes is in Garner's guard. Ganes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Garner wants to stand and escape but Ganes is having none of it. Ganes gets to his feet. Garner looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Ganes drives through with a takedown into Garner's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Garner looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Garner is trying to keep Ganes in close.

Ganes is breathing heavily. Garner wants to sweep but Ganes has passed to side control! Garner is pushing Ganes's head away, looking to escape. Ganes manages to hold on to the position though. Cereal Ganes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Garner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Ganes wants to work for an arm triangle but Garner is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ganes trying to control the position from guard on top but Garner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ganes postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Garner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ganes, into his guard.
Ganes has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Ganes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Garner throwing strikes from guard but Ganes blocks nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Garner wants to stand but Ganes is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ganes is trying to control the position but Garner postures up. Garner chips away with some ground and pound. Ganes keeping moving, preventing Garner from controlling successfully. Josh Garner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Garner is looking to stand up but Ganes won't let him.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Josh Garner. I think Ganes has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
