Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Haggar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charlie Hall! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall scores with a nice strike. Haggar steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hall. Hall swings for the body but Haggar moves out of range.
Haggar tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hall was well out of range. Poor timing from Haggar. Haggar thuds his right hand into Hall's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Hall closes the distance and lands a one-two. Hall has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Haggar finds it's way round the side to connect with Hall's head.
It looks like Charlie Hall has been cut. Hall pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Hall lands a jab to Haggar's midsection. Haggar throws a lazy right hand but Hall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hall misses with a leg kick and Haggar counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Hall! Haggar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Haggar fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hall is not content to let Haggar control the position. Hall told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Haggar lands a nice forearm strike. Haggar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Haggar trying to control the action but Hall is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hall is trying to get back to his feet. Haggar wants to control but Hall is keeping him busy. Haggar scoring with punches and elbows. Hall takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That has opened up Charlie Hall's cut even more. Sloppy strikes there by Haggar. Hall wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Hall is looking to reverse the position. Hall wants to get back to his feet. Hall is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Haggar lands a nice forearm strike. Hall on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The cut above Charlie Hall's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Charlie Hall's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
